For some reason (so apparent) I sense it is a prequel to the Reappearance of the Christ (for the masses).
Or at least an explanation of the true president's role as protector of humanity.
With the dark forces against him - petty, cruel, vindictive - duality seen.
The story since the beginning of time of the comic book maniacal megalomaniac hater & the Savior (Superman)!
In the film....
Every character shined!
Superman is like a long held promise (prophecy) come to life.
Appearing worldwide this year before the Reappearance.
It presents the global politics plot line perfectly but the film ends with eternal hope. The theme & politics are timely.
Superman's idea of doing good is very simple. If people are about to be hurt he wants to stop it. The idea that helping people and having love and compassion really is that simple.

Superman, like the Christ, is determined to help and save everyone he can. That's what Superman is. His sense of duty (like disciples) propelling his actions in life.
Getting through the challenges with the help of friends.
One sees a "crisis of purpose." There are fights & disagreements.
And there's humor & music, too!
And everything in the film is heart-felt.

The theme - it's not who one is, it's what we actually DO (our actions) that counts.
Very Saturday morning cartoon live action.
Along with thoughts on the coming Reappearance!

Who is Superman?
Superman was born on the planet Krypton and was given the name Kal-El (Sea God) at birth. As a baby, his parents sent him to Earth in a small spaceship moments before Krypton was destroyed in a natural cataclysm. His ship landed in the American countryside, near the fictional town of Smallville. He was found and adopted by farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, who named him Clark Kent. Clark developed various superhuman abilities, such as incredible strength and impervious skin.
